Concentration
My series is focused around the thought of moving forward. The media I used is representational of the way that plans can change, they can run very quickly just like watercolors. The signs are symbolic of me choosing which direction I wanted to go for college and what major I will be pursuing for the entirety of my life. The roads can be emblematic of the pathway I will take to pursue a career in Interior Design.
The directional movement of my concentration explores the idea of choosing a way to go after leaving the structured schedules of high school. The paintings get more experienced as the series moves forward seeing as I was just figuring out what I wanted to do at the very beginning. When I first started the series, I experimented with a different media, before deciding to stick to the watercolor paint. The experimentation of the size and media throughout the first two pieces, Road Closed, and Bike Lane, helped me to locate the direction in which I wanted to set off in for my concentration. More specific details began emerging around Right Lane. The making process of the artwork can be seen as a development of thoughts perceived through the onward stride of the series as a whole. The paintings are developed into a more mature nature of perspective. Overall the idea of my concentration was thoroughly laid out and examined throughout the twelve pieces included.
